Vijay Back to Acting

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is set to face the camera once again, but this time for a government advertisement. Vijay, who announced his decision to quit films and focus completely on politics, has reportedly agreed to act in an advertisement sponsored by the Tamil Nadu government. Vijay entered full-time politics after completing his film commitments, with Jana Nayagan being announced as his final film. He went on to lead Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to power and assumed office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in May 2026. Since then, he has stayed away from film-related assignments as he focuses on his political responsibilities.
However, the latest development has brought him back in front of the camera. Reports suggest that Vijay has allocated two days for the advertisement shoot. Noted filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon is expected to direct the project, while an experienced technical team will handle the production. The advertisement is reportedly being planned on a bigger scale than regular government campaigns. Vijay’s acting assignment will remain limited to government publicity, with no indication of a return to cinema.
